The sheet first, the clock second
A time clock records when someone arrived; the timesheet decides what they are paid, and the second is the one payroll runs on. Software that sells the clock and exports the sheet leaves the arithmetic to a spreadsheet on Friday. The tools on this site start from the sheet: days, hours, the break off, the overtime on, the gross at the rate, shown as lines.
Overtime at the multiplier, and the rule named
The federal FLSA pays hours over 40 in a workweek at not less than time and a half, and a small business that pays a straight rate on hour 41 owes the difference later with interest. The software should take the overtime hours as their own line at a multiplier you set, and say which rule it is applying, because your state may add a daily one.
Every pay period against the employee, and out the door as a file
The sheet is only a record once it is kept, and kept against the employee it belongs to. The paid plan files every timesheet against the employee and the pay period, prints it under your business name, and exports the lot when payroll or the accountant asks, with no fee for the foreman's login.
