Every figure on this page is computed from the inputs you enter, by the method stated below it. TimeCardBook publishes no wage rates and quotes no survey: the defaults are a worked example to replace with your own. The one rule it names, overtime after 40 hours at time and a half, is the federal FLSA floor, and your state may add to it.
The figures above start from a worked example ($891). Change any input and the answer updates as you type.

This fills in a weekly timesheet the way payroll reads it. Days worked times the hours clocked, the unpaid break taken off each day, the overtime hours on their own line at the multiplier, and the regular pay, overtime pay and gross for the week at the rate. Every figure is yours; the tool publishes no wage. The one rule it names is the federal FLSA floor, overtime after 40 hours at time and a half, and your state may add to it. Free, on the page, no account; the paid plan saves it against the employee and the pay period.
Days times hours, with the break off every day
Regular hours are the days worked times the hours clocked, less the unpaid break for each day. Thirty minutes over five days is two and a half hours, and a sheet that forgets the break pays for it every week. The template takes the break in minutes per day so the regular hours already have it off, and shows the total hours on the sheet beside them.
Overtime is its own line at the multiplier
Employees covered by the federal Fair Labor Standards Act must receive overtime pay for hours worked over 40 in a workweek at a rate not less than time and one-half their regular rates of pay. Some states add a daily threshold and some employees are exempt. The template pays the overtime hours you enter at the multiplier you set, 1.5 by default, and shows the overtime pay as its own line.
Regular pay, overtime pay, gross, and a place to sign
Regular hours at the rate is the regular pay; overtime hours at the rate times the multiplier is the overtime pay; the two together are the gross for the week, the last and largest figure on the sheet. Under it go the employee's and the supervisor's signatures, because a timesheet nobody signed is a claim, not a record.
Timesheet template: common questions
Is this a free weekly timesheet template?
Yes. Enter the days, the hours clocked, the break, the overtime hours, the rate and the multiplier, and it fills in the week on the page with the gross, no account and no card. Print it as it stands. TimeCardBook Pro adds your business name, a PDF without our line, and saving it against the employee and the pay period.
Do unpaid breaks come off the hours?
A genuine unpaid meal break, where the employee is relieved of duty, is not hours worked and comes off; a short rest break is usually paid time and stays on. The template takes the unpaid break in minutes per day and leaves anything you do not enter on the sheet.
How do I enter 7 hours 45 minutes?
As 7.75, because payroll works in decimal hours and 45 minutes is 0.75 of an hour. The hours input moves in quarter hours for that reason; for any other minute figure, the timesheet conversion chart on this site does the division.
